Microgreens Guru

Privacy Policy

Last updated 7 August 2026.

This is a plain-English description of what Microgreens Guru collects, why, who else can see it, and what you can do about it. It describes what this site actually does. Where something is not collected, it says so rather than reserving the right to collect it later.

The short version

This is a static website. There are no accounts, no logins and no profiles. Nothing that identifies you is collected unless you choose to send it, and the analytics that would otherwise run are switched off until you say yes.

This site can load two analytics tools: Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity.

Neither loads until you accept cookies. If you decline, or you never answer, no analytics script is loaded at all, so no analytics data about your visit exists to be collected. That is a genuine gate and not a banner over a script that has already run.

A Global Privacy Control signal is treated as a decline. If your browser or extension sends GPC, this site treats it as a universal opt-out and does not load analytics, without asking you anything. Turning GPC off means the question gets asked normally on your next visit.

When analytics is running, it records ordinary usage information: pages viewed, roughly how long was spent, approximate region, browser and device type, and the site or search that referred you. Clarity additionally records interaction data such as scrolling and clicks so that layout problems can be found. This is used to work out which guides are worth expanding and where pages are failing readers. It is not used to build a profile of you, and it is never combined with anything else to identify you.

You can change your answer at any time using the cookie settings control, and changing it to a decline stops further collection from that point.

Email, if you write in

The contact page gives an email address rather than a form. Writing to it means the message arrives in an ordinary mailbox and is stored there, along with your address and whatever you chose to put in the message. It is used to answer you, and it is not added to any mailing list without you asking. It is not sold, rented or shared.

The newsletter

The newsletter takes your email address, and nothing else is required to join. The signup form also offers a first name, which is optional and only used to address the emails you get. Leaving it blank changes nothing except that the emails do not open with your name. Both are used to send the newsletter and for nothing else. Neither is sold, rented, shared or handed to any other company for their own use, and neither is used to build an advertising audience anywhere.

Signing up does not put you on the list. You get one email asking you to confirm the address, and until you click the link in it nothing is stored anywhere: the address is not added to any list and no record of it is kept. That means somebody typing your address into the form by mistake leaves nothing behind.

Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe. Unsubscribing removes your address from the list rather than flagging it as inactive, and you can also ask to be removed through the contact page.

Subscribers who joined through the previous version of this site remain on the same list under this same policy. If that ever changes, subscribers get told before it does, not after.

Some links to products are affiliate links. Following one takes you to a retailer, and from that point the retailer's own privacy policy and cookies apply, not this one. This site does not receive your name, your address, your payment details or what you eventually bought. It receives only the retailer's own aggregate report that a sale was referred. See the affiliate disclaimer for who those retailers are.

Hosting

The site is served as static files by Netlify, which as host keeps ordinary server logs including IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. That happens at the infrastructure level for any site and is not something this site reads, queries or connects to anything else.

What is never collected

  • No accounts, passwords or logins, because there are none to create.
  • No payment details. Nothing is sold directly on this site.
  • No selling, renting or trading of personal information to anybody, for any purpose.
  • No advertising networks, no retargeting pixels and no cross-site tracking.
  • No profile of you assembled across visits or across other websites.

Children

This site is written for adults running or starting a growing operation. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

You can decline cookies and keep using the entire site, since nothing here is gated behind consent. You can send a GPC signal and have that respected automatically. You can change your cookie answer whenever you like. You can ask what is held about you and ask for it to be deleted, which for most readers will be nothing at all, and for a correspondent will be an email thread.

Depending on where you live you may have specific rights over your personal information, including access, correction, deletion and opting out of sale or sharing. Nothing here is sold or shared, and requests can be made at the contact page.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes to what is collected will be described rather than quietly folded in.
